NUPENG Suspends Strike as Dangote Accepts Union’s Demands

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its nationwide strike after reaching an agreement with the Dangote Group. The suspension came following a series of negotiations where the management of Dangote Industries reportedly accepted the key demands put forward by the union.

NUPENG had embarked on the strike to protest poor working conditions, alleged unfair labor practices, and disputes over welfare benefits for its members working under the Dangote Group. The industrial action, which disrupted fuel distribution in several states, had raised concerns over possible fuel scarcity across the country.

Speaking after the meeting, NUPENG President [insert name if known] confirmed that the union decided to call off the strike after Dangote management showed “genuine commitment” to address the grievances. He emphasized that the agreement reached included improved welfare packages, better safety standards, and job security guarantees for union members.

A representative of the Dangote Group also issued a statement, assuring the public that operations will fully resume and promising to maintain a cordial relationship with labor unions going forward.

With the suspension of the strike, petroleum product distribution is expected to normalize in the coming days, easing the pressure on motorists and businesses nationwide.
