Dangote Petrol N65 Cheaper in Togo — Importers
Fuel importers in Nigeria allege that the Dangote Refinery sells petrol to neighbouring Togo at about N65 per litre cheaper than it charges locally. They argue this practice is unfair, as it makes fuel routed through Lome more competitive than lifting directly in Nigeria.
Dangote has recently cut its ex-depot price to around N825 per litre, sparking a price war that has lowered pump prices for consumers. However, importers warn that the refinery’s cheaper exports and Nigeria’s higher port charges could undermine local distributors and distort the market.
The situation highlights a structural imbalance in port costs and regional fuel trade, raising concerns over market disruption while giving Nigerian consumers short-term relief through falling petrol prices.
