Dangote Refinery Assures Steady Fuel Supply as Output Surpasses National Demand

The Dangote Refinery has announced that its fuel output now exceeds Nigeria’s current domestic demand, assuring citizens of a stable and consistent supply of petroleum products across the country. According to the refinery’s management, recent production increases have positioned the $20 billion facility as a self-sufficient energy hub capable of meeting both local consumption and export needs.

Speaking at a briefing in Lagos, the company’s spokesperson said the refinery is now producing petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel at optimal capacity following months of operational adjustments and testing. He emphasised that the refinery’s expansion in production would significantly reduce Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports, strengthen the naira, and stabilise pump prices.

Industry experts hailed the development as a major milestone for Nigeria’s energy independence, noting that steady output from Dangote Refinery could boost foreign exchange earnings through exports to neighbouring countries. The spokesperson further reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring quality products that meet global environmental and safety standards.

The Federal Government also commended the refinery’s progress, expressing optimism that it will help curb inflationary pressures and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the downstream sector.
