FEC Approves Biometric Flight Boarding, Port Harcourt Airport Concession to Boost Efficiency

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the introduction of biometric boarding systems at Nigerian airports and the concession of the Port Harcourt International Airport to a private operator. The new biometric technology aims to enhance passenger identification, improve security, and reduce boarding time. Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, disclosed that the concession of the Port Harcourt Airport will ensure efficient management, world-class services, and increased revenue generation for the federal government. He added that the biometric system will be implemented across major airports to align Nigeria’s aviation sector with global digital standards. The initiatives are part of the government’s ongoing aviation modernization program designed to promote transparency, safety, and passenger comfort.
