Elon Musk Signals Reconciliation With Trump After Dinner at Mar-a-Lago
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has signalled a full reconciliation with United States President Donald Trump following a private dinner with the president and First Lady, Melania Trump, months after a highly publicised political and personal fallout between the two influential figures.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief executive disclosed the meeting in a post on his social media platform, X, on Tuesday. Musk wrote: “Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS. 2026 is going to be amazing!” tagging President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
The dinner reportedly took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in January 2026 and marks a significant thaw in relations after a prolonged feud that began in mid-2025.
The rift between the two men erupted when Musk publicly criticised Trump’s flagship tax and spending package, popularly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill. Musk described the legislation as a “disgusting abomination,” a remark that drew a sharp rebuke from the president.
At the height of the dispute, President Trump said he was “very disappointed in Elon” and warned that Musk’s companies could face the loss of government contracts and subsidies. In response, Musk accused Trump of “ingratitude” and made a series of inflammatory posts, including comments linking the president to the Jeffrey Epstein files, further deepening tensions.
The latest meeting, however, suggests both sides may be seeking to move past their differences, raising speculation about renewed cooperation between the Trump administration and Musk-led companies as the United States heads deeper into 2026.
Observers say the reconciliation could have implications for technology, space exploration, and government-private sector partnerships under the current administration.
