NNPC April crude supplies to Dangote cross 1bn barrels

Nigeria’s oil sector has recorded a major milestone as crude oil deliveries from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery surpassed 1 billion barrels in April 2026, reflecting sustained efforts to stabilise domestic fuel production and improve refinery feedstock availability.

According to industry updates, the cumulative supply figure highlights an intensified crude allocation programme between the state-owned oil firm and Africa’s largest refinery, located in Lekki, Lagos. The arrangement is aimed at boosting local refining capacity, reducing import dependence, and strengthening Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

Recent supply trends show increasing monthly allocations, with NNPC raising crude shipments to support steady operations at the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery. Earlier in the year, cargo deliveries were increased from about five to seven per month to improve output consistency and meet rising domestic fuel demand .

The development comes amid broader efforts to optimise Nigeria’s refining landscape, as the Dangote refinery continues to play a central role in meeting national fuel needs and easing pressure on foreign exchange through reduced fuel imports.
