NCDC: Nigeria Records 184 Lassa Fever Deaths, 995 Confirmed Cases in 2025

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has announced that Nigeria has recorded a total of 184 deaths from Lassa Fever so far this year.

The agency also reported that the cumulative number of confirmed cases now stands at 995.

According to the latest Week 46 Situation Report (covering 10th – 16th November 2025), the number of confirmed cases increased from 10 in epidemiological week 45 to 19 in week 46.
The new infections were reported in Bauchi, Ondo, and Edo States.

The report further revealed:

  • Cumulative (Week 46, 2025): 995 confirmed cases, 184 deaths

  • Case Fatality Rate (CFR): 18.5%, higher than the 16.2% recorded during the same period in 2024

NCDC noted that 21 states have reported at least one confirmed case across 102 Local Government Areas, with 88% of all confirmed cases coming from Ondo, Bauchi, and Edo States.

The Centre identified the 21–30 age group as the most affected demographic in the ongoing outbreak.

It added that the number of suspected and confirmed cases has decreased when compared to the same period in 2024.
The report also confirmed that no new healthcare worker infection was recorded in the latest week.
