The United States has introduced new health safety measures, including enhanced airport screening, following growing concerns over the possible spread of Ebola linked to parts of Africa.
According to US health authorities, the new steps come as Ebola cases continue to rise in the Democratic Republic of Congo and some neighbouring countries, raising fears about cross-border transmission and international travel-related risks.
Officials say the measures are intended to reduce the possibility of the deadly virus entering the United States through international travel routes. Health agencies have stressed that the actions are precautionary and designed to strengthen monitoring at points of entry.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that travellers arriving from affected regions will now undergo additional screening procedures at airports. These checks may include health assessments, travel history reviews, and monitoring for possible Ebola symptoms.
In addition, some visa-related services have reportedly been paused for individuals linked to affected areas as authorities review travel protocols to limit potential exposure risks.
Health experts continue to urge travellers and the public to remain vigilant, while emphasizing the importance of early detection, proper hygiene, and rapid medical response in preventing the spread of Ebola.
Authorities in affected countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, are also working with international health agencies to contain outbreaks and prevent further transmission.
