Ile-Ife, Osun State – The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the weekend described the Olojo Festival as the strongest Yoruba heritage that is “creditably natural.”
The Olojo Festival, a major cultural event in the calendar of Ile-Ife, Osun State, located in southwestern Nigeria, is celebrated annually to honor Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba race.
Speaking at a press conference in his palace to herald this year’s festival, the Ooni offered special prayers for the development of Nigeria in all sectors. He also called on corporate organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to partner in the development of the festival, emphasizing its importance to Yoruba culture and heritage.
On the spiritual significance of the festival, Oba Ogunwusi noted, “The Yoruba race remains the largest race worldwide, with the Olojo Festival as the strongest heritage which is creditably natural.” He explained that the festival commemorates the creation of the world according to Yoruba mythology and is a homage to Oduduwa.
The Olojo Festival is renowned for its vibrant displays of culture, rich traditions, and elaborate rituals, serving as a unifying celebration for the people of Ife and the Yoruba race globally.
