Ibas Rejects Assembly’s Move to Probe Six-Month Spending

Governor Orok Ibas has openly rejected the State House of Assembly’s decision to probe government expenditures covering the last six months. The lawmakers had resolved to investigate allegations of financial mismanagement and lack of transparency in the disbursement of funds.

Ibas, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, described the move as “politically motivated” and aimed at distracting his administration from ongoing development projects. He insisted that all expenditures followed due process and were duly captured in the state’s financial records.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Committee on Public Accounts vowed to proceed with the probe, stressing that accountability and transparency remain key to good governance. Political analysts suggest the development may deepen tensions between the executive and legislature in the state.
