Nigeria TV Info — Nigerian Forces Making Gains Against Terrorism, Banditry, and Violent Crime, Says Tinubu

Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, working alongside other security agencies, are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes across the country.

The President, in his 65th Independence Anniversary broadcast to the nation on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, emphasized that security forces are making significant sacrifices to ensure the safety of Nigerians.

According to him, peace has been restored to several liberated communities in the North-East and North-West, with thousands of displaced citizens now safely returning to their homes.

“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance. The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe,” Tinubu said.

“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat as they strive to stamp out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping across the country. We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he added.

The President acknowledged that although government reforms have brought economic challenges, including high inflation and rising living costs, such measures were necessary to prevent Nigeria from sliding into chaos.

“I have always candidly acknowledged that these reforms have come with some temporary pains. The biting effects of inflation and the rising cost of living remain a significant concern to our government. However, the alternative—allowing our country to descend into economic chaos or bankruptcy—was not an option,” Tinubu said.

The President assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to stabilizing the economy and securing lasting peace across the nation.
