Burkina Faso Launches Major Anti-Corruption Drive: Two New Prisons and Five Special Courts Planned

Category: News |

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso — The Burkinabe government has unveiled a bold plan to build two new prisons and five special courts to combat corruption nationwide.

President Ibrahim Traoré emphasized that corruption remains the greatest obstacle to national development. “Corruption is the first cancer my government will eradicate. Those who steal the people’s resources will soon watch us from prison,” he declared during a national broadcast.

The initiative aims to strengthen justice and transparency, ensure fair trials for officials involved in financial crimes, and restore public trust in state institutions. Analysts view this as one of West Africa’s toughest anti-corruption reforms in recent years.
