President Tinubu Departs Abuja for Aqaba Process Meeting in Rome

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for Rome, Italy, to participate in the Aqaba Process meeting, a high-level global security forum convened by King Abdullah II of Jordan. The summit, which gathers world leaders, defense chiefs, and security experts, aims to address pressing issues of terrorism, transnational crime, and global instability.

According to presidential aides, Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional and international cooperation in combating terrorism and strengthening security alliances.

During his visit, the president is expected to hold bilateral talks with key global leaders and explore partnerships on defense intelligence, border security, and counterterrorism. Tinubu is also likely to advocate for stronger collaboration in tackling the root causes of insecurity across Africa, including poverty and youth unemployment.

The Aqaba Process, launched in 2015 by the Jordanian monarch, serves as a platform for dialogue and coordinated action against global extremism. Tinubu’s delegation includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and top officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense.

The president is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
