Fubara Swears In Anabraba as Rivers SSG, Warns Against Abuse of Power

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday swore in Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), charging him to serve with integrity and avoid any form of power misuse.

The ceremony, held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, marked Governor Fubara’s first major appointment since his reinstatement following the lifting of the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu on September 18.

Anabraba, a former Minority Leader in the Rivers State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC), also served as Commissioner for Housing in the current administration. He was among those screened by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led faction of the State Assembly loyal to the governor.

Congratulating the new SSG, Governor Fubara described the appointment as a divine privilege and urged Anabraba to uphold honour in the discharge of his duties.

“This position you just got can only be God’s doing. It’s a real opportunity and a position of honour,” Fubara said. “I want you to guard that office with integrity, protect the interests of Rivers State, and ensure you leave office with honour.”

He expressed confidence in Anabraba’s competence, citing his previous experience as both a legislator and commissioner.

“I know you will perform well. You’ve shown dedication in previous roles, and I trust you will bring that same spirit to this office,” the governor added.
