Jonathan Slams Successor for Abandoning Bayelsa Projects.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has criticized his successor, Governor Douye Diri, for allegedly abandoning key developmental projects initiated during his tenure in Bayelsa State. Speaking during a community event in Otuoke, Jonathan expressed disappointment that several infrastructure and social development projects designed to improve the lives of Bayelsans have been left to decay.

He stated that governance should be a continuous process and urged the current administration to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects rather than embarking on new ones. “Development cannot thrive in an environment where every new administration disregards the efforts of its predecessor,” Jonathan noted.

The former president also appealed to political leaders to rise above partisanship and work collectively for the progress of the state. He emphasized that the people suffer most when projects meant for their benefit are abandoned midway.

In response, sources close to Governor Diri’s camp dismissed Jonathan’s remarks as politically motivated, insisting that the government has completed and initiated numerous projects to uplift the state’s infrastructure and economy.

The exchange has sparked public debate over governance continuity and accountability in Bayelsa State.
