FCTA Demolishes 11 Duplexes in Dutse District Over Land Encroachment, Illegal Development

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Thursday carried out the demolition of 11 duplexes in Dutse District, Abuja, citing illegal construction and land encroachment as the reason for the exercise. The Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, said the affected structures were built without valid approval from the FCTA and were located on plots originally designated for public infrastructure.

According to Galadima, several warnings and stop-work notices were issued to the property developers, but they failed to comply. He added that the demolition was part of the administration’s renewed effort to curb illegal developments and restore Abuja’s master plan.

Residents in the area expressed mixed reactions, with some commending the move to maintain order, while others lamented the financial losses incurred. The FCTA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing planning regulations and warned developers to ensure proper documentation before commencing any construction within the city.
