APC Intolerant of Opposition, Says Aregbesola
Former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of becoming intolerant of dissenting voices within its ranks. Speaking during a political gathering in Osogbo, Aregbesola lamented that the ruling party, which once prided itself on internal democracy and inclusiveness, now suppresses criticism and sidelines members who hold contrary views.
The former Osun State governor noted that democracy thrives on open dialogue and tolerance, stressing that political parties must allow free expression to grow stronger. âWhen a party starts seeing every opposing opinion as rebellion, it is the beginning of dictatorship,â he warned.
Aregbesola, who has had strained relations with APC leadership in Osun State since leaving office, urged members to restore the partyâs founding principles of fairness, transparency, and unity. He also called on the national leadership to address grievances rather than silence them, warning that intolerance could lead to the partyâs decline ahead of the 2027 elections.
