AGF Orders Multi-Agency Probe into Presidential Pardon Process

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has directed a comprehensive multi-agency investigation into the recent presidential pardons granted to several convicted individuals. The move follows growing public concern over alleged irregularities, favoritism, and potential abuse of the clemency process.

According to sources in the Ministry of Justice, the probe will involve the EFCC, ICPC, DSS, and the Nigeria Correctional Service to examine the criteria used in recommending pardon beneficiaries. The AGF emphasized transparency and accountability, stating that the government will not tolerate manipulation of constitutional privileges for personal or political gain.

Officials confirmed that the report of the investigation will be submitted to the Presidency for further action. Analysts say the probe could lead to reforms in the nation’s pardon framework to ensure fairness and public trust.
