BREAKING: Tragedy as Dangote Truck Crushes Pregnant Woman, Child, Six Others in Ondo

Tragedy struck on Thursday in Ondo State as a Dangote Cement truck lost control and rammed into pedestrians and vehicles, killing a pregnant woman, her child, and six others. The fatal crash occurred along the ever-busy Akure-Owo Expressway near Shagari Village.
Eyewitnesses said the truck, which was reportedly speeding, suffered brake failure before veering off its lane. The victims, including traders and commuters, died instantly, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency responders and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene to evacuate the corpses and rescue the injured.
FRSC Sector Commander, Ezekiel SonAllah, confirmed the incident, attributing it to mechanical failure and reckless driving. He urged heavy-duty drivers to always ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on long-distance journeys.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage among residents, who blocked the highway in protest, demanding government intervention and stricter regulation of heavy trucks on Nigerian roads.
