Soludo’s N1m Promise Aims to Boost Voter Turnout, Curb Apathy — APGA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has defended Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo’s promise to reward voters with ₦1 million for their wards, saying it is an innovative way to tackle voter apathy and encourage civic participation in the forthcoming local elections.

According to the party, the initiative is not a form of vote-buying but a performance-based incentive aimed at rewarding communities with the highest voter turnout. APGA’s spokesperson stated that the move aligns with Governor Soludo’s people-oriented governance style and his desire to deepen democracy in Anambra.

The party added that the measure would promote accountability and healthy competition among wards, urging residents to participate actively in the electoral process. Critics, however, have called for clearer guidelines to ensure transparency and fairness in implementing the promise.
