2027: Abure, Otti LP Factions Clash Over Obi’s Alliance with ADC Ahead of Elections

Tension has erupted within the Labour Party (LP) as rival factions loyal to Julius Abure and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, clash over Peter Obi’s reported alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. The disagreement, insiders say, stems from differing political strategies for strengthening Obi’s presidential ambition.

While the Abure-led national leadership described the move as “a betrayal of party loyalty,” Otti’s camp argued that the collaboration was necessary to form a broader coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Party sources revealed that the alliance talks, which reportedly involved senior ADC officials and some Labour Party governors, have deepened existing divisions over control and future direction of the LP.

As calls for reconciliation grow, political analysts warn that continued infighting could weaken LP’s national structure ahead of 2027, particularly if Obi’s supporters become disillusioned by internal wrangling.
