Kenya Plane Crash Kills 11, Including 10 Foreign Tourists

Kwale County, Kenya – October 28, 2025 – At least eleven people, including ten foreign tourists, lost their lives early Tuesday when a small passenger aircraft operated by Mombasa Air Safari crashed in Kwale County, Kenya, while en route to the famed Maasai Mara National Reserve.

According to Kenyan authorities, the victims comprised eight Hungarian nationals, two Germans, and one Kenyan pilot. The ill-fated Cessna Caravan went down in a hilly, forested area roughly 40 kilometres from Diani airstrip, bursting into flames upon impact.

Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde confirmed to the Associated Press that the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time, amid heavy rainfall in the coastal region. He described the scene as “completely burnt,” noting that all occupants perished instantly.

Mombasa Air Safari released a statement revealing that the pilot lost contact with the Diani control tower shortly after take-off. Air traffic controllers reportedly tried to re-establish communication for about 30 minutes before the charred wreckage was located.

Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a loud explosion before spotting flames in the distance. “By the time we got there, the wreckage was burning, and there was nothing anyone could do,” said one local resident.

Initially, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) reported twelve passengers on board but later corrected the figure to eleven confirmed fatalities.
Authorities have since launched a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains unknown at this time.

This tragedy adds to a string of small aircraft accidents in Kenya’s tourism sector, prompting renewed calls for tighter safety measures and stricter oversight of domestic charter flights.

🕊️ Nigeria TV Info extends condolences to the victims’ families and all affected by this devastating incident.
