Coup Controversy: Military Interrogates MD, Raids Ex-Governor’s Residence Over Alleged Plot
Nigeria’s security agencies have intensified investigations into an alleged coup plot, leading to the interrogation of a serving Managing Director of a government-owned corporation and a raid on the residence of a former state governor. According to top military sources, the operation followed intelligence reports linking the duo to suspicious financial transactions and communications suggestive of subversive activities.
The raid, conducted by a combined team of military intelligence officers and DSS operatives, reportedly uncovered documents, electronic gadgets, and cash believed to be connected to the ongoing probe. The ex-governor, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons, is said to have been under surveillance for weeks over alleged contacts with disloyal elements within the armed forces.
The Defence Headquarters has neither confirmed nor denied the development but maintained that the military remains committed to upholding Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and dealing decisively with any threat to national stability.
A senior defence source stated that further arrests may follow as the investigation broadens to include politicians, businessmen, and retired officers allegedly financing or coordinating the suspected plot.
