Six Girls, 16-Year-Old Boy Abducted as Bandits Raid Abuja Community

Armed bandits have abducted six girls and a 16-year-old boy during a night attack on Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu Ward of Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

The attack occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, sending the border community—located close to Kaduna State through Marke village—into panic.

A resident of Kawu, Suleiman Shuaibu, told Nigeria TV Info on Thursday that the bandits arrived heavily armed and headed straight for two houses.

According to him, “The bandits wielding AK-47 rifles raided two houses in the community around 9:47 p.m. and whisked away six young girls, including a 16-year-old boy, amid sporadic shooting.”

Shuaibu said the incident threw the community into chaos as terrified residents fled for safety.

He added that although local vigilantes attempted to confront the attackers, they were overpowered by the bandits’ superior firepower.

The abducted girls are reportedly between the ages of 17 and 23, with one of them confirmed to be a relative of Shuaibu.

Residents are calling on security agencies to respond swiftly to rescue the victims and strengthen patrols within the area, which has witnessed rising insecurity in recent months.
