One Dead, Five Arrested After Clash Between Farmers and Herders in Bauchi
One person has been killed following a violent altercation between farmers and herders in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Bauchi State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement made to journalists in the state.
The statement, titled: “Clash Between Farmers and Herders in Zaki Local Government Area: One Fatality and Five Suspects Apprehended”, confirmed that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to Wakil, a Chief Superintendent of Police, the incident occurred on 26th November 2025 at about 11:00 a.m., when herders from Jigawa State allegedly trespassed onto a local farmland, destroyed agricultural produce, and encroached upon community land.
The confrontation escalated, resulting in the death of one herder.
“The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive investigation into this violent altercation between farmers and herders in Bursali Village, Zaki Local Government Area. Our priority is to ensure justice and maintain peace in the community,” Wakil said.
