MACRON PLEDGES FRENCH SUPPORT FOR NIGERIA IN FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM

French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged France’s strong support for Nigeria in addressing terrorism and other security challenges confronting the nation, particularly in the northern region.

The assurance followed a telephone conversation between President Macron and Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday morning.

Macron, in a statement posted on his verified X handle @EmmanuelMacron, said he expressed France’s solidarity with Nigeria as the country continues to battle multiple security threats.

> “I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria, @officialABAT.
I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North,”
Macron stated.

The French President’s message comes at a time when Nigeria is intensifying efforts to curb terrorism, banditry, and violent extremism across affected regions. His pledge signals renewed international backing for President Tinubu’s security agenda.

The Nigerian presidency is yet to release additional details of the discussion, but diplomatic observers note that France remains a key partner in West Africa’s security architecture.
