Terrorists Don’t Represent Any Religion — Tambuwal

Former Sokoto State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has declared that terrorism and violent extremism have no connection with any religion, stressing that criminals should not be allowed to hide under religious identity.

Tambuwal made the remark while speaking on national security and interfaith harmony, noting that acts of terror contradict the core teachings of all recognized religions, which promote peace, justice, and respect for human life. He warned against stereotyping any faith based on the actions of violent groups, saying such narratives only deepen divisions and aid the objectives of terrorists.

According to him, insecurity in Nigeria must be addressed through collective action, improved intelligence, good governance, and inclusive dialogue among communities. He also urged religious leaders to continue preaching tolerance and to openly condemn violence in all its forms.

Tambuwal emphasized that defeating terrorism requires unity across religious and ethnic lines, adding that Nigerians must stand together to isolate criminals and support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the country.
