Corruption Masking God’s Blessings on Nigeria — EFCC Chair Says in Christmas Message
Abuja, December 25, 2025 — The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has warned that corruption is obscuring the abundant blessings God has placed on Nigeria and continues to hinder national development.
Delivering his Christmas message in Abuja on Wednesday, Olukoyede urged Nigerians to unite against corrupt practices so the country can prosper fully and reflect its divine potential. He described corruption as a major obstacle preventing Nigeria from attaining its full economic and social potential, calling it a “drawback” that must be confronted more fiercely.
Olukoyede stressed that confronting corruption is essential to unlocking the abundant life God intends for the nation, urging citizens to embrace ethical values—love, light, and hope—that embody the spirit of Christ and can drive national progress. He said these values are critical for rebuilding trust, strengthening institutions, and securing a brighter future for all Nigerians.
The EFCC boss also encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, saying it has the potential to rekindle confidence in the country’s future and inspire collective action against corruption. Olukoyede’s message comes amid ongoing economic difficulties and persistent public concerns about governance and accountability in Nigeria.
He appealed for unity and collective resistance to corruption, stressing that it is only through shared commitment and ethical conduct that Nigeria can fully manifest its blessings and achieve enduring progress.
