Wike Alleges Politicians Scheming Over N600bn in Rivers State Coffers

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused politicians of scheming to access the N600bn left in Rivers State by former Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), after the six-month emergency rule ended. Wike, speaking to Rivers State lawmakers in Port Harcourt, claimed some politicians visiting Governor Siminalayi Fubara were motivated by greed rather than goodwill. He alleged they publicly praise the governor while privately maneuvering to gain a share of the funds. Wike further warned that revealing the funds has attracted opportunists and described the practice of invoking the President’s name as a tactic to access state resources.
