ICPC to Arraign Ozekhome Monday Over UK Property Fraud Charges

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, January 26, 2026, in connection with alleged fraud involving a property in London, United Kingdom.

The three‑count charge was filed by the ICPC on January 16 and lists Ozekhome as the sole defendant, with the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the plaintiff. Prosecution will be led by Osuobeni Akponimisingha, Head of the ICPC’s High‑Profile Prosecution Department.

According to the charge sheet, Ozekhome is accused of receiving a London property at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, from one Shani Tali in August 2021, knowing that the act allegedly constituted a felony under anti‑corruption law.

The second count alleges that Ozekhome, while acting as a legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, created a false Nigerian passport (No. A07535463) bearing Tali’s name to support a purported ownership claim to the property.

The third count charges that he dishonestly used the false passport to substantiate the property claim, knowing the document was forged, contrary to provisions of Nigeria’s Penal Code and anti‑corruption statutes.

The charges stem from a petition by the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) and follow findings by a British property tribunal that implicated Ozekhome and others in a web of alleged fraud and forged documents in the contested London property dispute.

Ozekhome’s arraignment will take place at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 4. The court notice advises that any party seeking a postponement must apply promptly with fact‑based evidence.
