The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced that Nigeriaâs 2027 presidential election will be conducted on February 20, 2027. The electoral body disclosed this as part of its early preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible electoral process across the country.
According to INEC officials, the early announcement is intended to give political parties, aspirants, and other stakeholders sufficient time to organize primaries, campaigns, and voter education activities in line with the Electoral Act. The Commission emphasized its commitment to improving logistics, enhancing technology deployment, and strengthening collaboration with security agencies to guarantee peaceful elections.
INEC also assured Nigerians that continuous voter registration, voter register updates, and public awareness campaigns will be intensified ahead of the polls. The Commission urged eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the democratic process.
