Bola Ahmed Tinubu Reappoints Ahmed Abubakar Audi as Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant-General for Another Five Years
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for another five-year term.
The reappointment, announced by the presidency, reflects the administrationâs confidence in Audiâs leadership and commitment to strengthening the nationâs security architecture. Audi was first appointed as NSCDC Commandant-General in 2021 and has since overseen reforms aimed at improving the corpsâ operational capacity, personnel welfare, and protection of critical national assets.
During his tenure, the NSCDC intensified efforts to combat oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal mining, and other forms of economic sabotage across the country. The corps also expanded its collaboration with other security agencies to improve intelligence sharing and rapid response to security threats.
Government officials noted that Audiâs continued leadership is expected to consolidate ongoing reforms within the corps while enhancing the protection of lives, property, and national infrastructure.
Security analysts say the decision provides continuity in the agencyâs operations at a time when the country continues to confront various security challenges.
With the renewed mandate, Audi is expected to deepen institutional reforms, improve training programs for officers, and strengthen community-based security initiatives nationwide.
