Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued more than 150 civilians and foiled a major abduction attempt by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Nigeriaâs North-East, in a decisive military operation.
The operation, carried out by the Joint Task Force (North East) on March 30, 2026, highlights ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to curb insurgency and protect vulnerable communities in the region.
According to the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Sani Uba, troops deployed at Dutse Kura under Sector 2 came under heavy attack while escorting civilians along the BurataiâKamuya axis.
Uba disclosed that during the confrontation, military surveillance assets identified a large group of insurgents attempting to abduct civilians, including men, women, and children. The terrorists were reportedly operating with about 17 vehicles, indicating a well-coordinated mass abduction plan.
In response, the military swiftly deployed a Quick Reaction Force to reinforce troops already engaged in combat. The coordinated counter-offensive successfully repelled the attackers, forcing them to retreat towards the Mangari area.
The sustained pressure from the troops led to the abandonment of both the abducted civilians and the vehicles by the fleeing insurgents, effectively preventing what could have been a large-scale humanitarian crisis.
Security analysts say the operation underscores the importance of intelligence, rapid response, and coordinated military action in combating terrorism in the North-East.
The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP, while ensuring the safety of civilians in conflict-prone areas.
Residents in the region have also been urged to continue providing credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
