PRP Calls for Opposition Unity Amid ADC Leadership Crisis
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has urged key opposition figures â Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso â to unite and strengthen collaboration following the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Friday, the PRP emphasized the urgent need for a cohesive opposition front to provide credible alternatives to the ruling government. The party noted that internal conflicts within opposition parties, particularly the ADC, risk weakening democratic engagement and diminishing public confidence.
The PRP described the ADC leadership tussle as a distraction that could derail efforts to build a strong coalition ahead of future elections. It called on Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso â all influential political figures with significant grassroots support â to rise above party differences and work towards a unified political agenda.
According to the PRP, Nigeriaâs current socio-economic challenges demand collective action from opposition leaders who share a vision for reform, good governance, and national development. The party stressed that unity among opposition stakeholders would not only strengthen democratic institutions but also offer Nigerians a viable political alternative.
The statement further urged political actors to prioritize national interest over personal ambition, warning that disunity could prolong governance challenges and limit progress. The PRP reaffirmed its commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration among like-minded parties and leaders.
Observers believe the call reflects growing concern within smaller political parties about fragmentation in the opposition space, especially as political realignments continue to shape Nigeriaâs evolving democratic landscape.
