Makinde, Ladoja fault Fayose over alleged dethronement plot

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have dismissed allegations made by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, claiming there was a plot to dethrone the monarch, describing the claim as baseless and politically motivated.

Fayose had alleged on his social media handle that Governor Makinde was planning to issue a query and move against the Olubadan over claims linked to a failed traditional ceremony in Ibadan. The allegation quickly sparked widespread reactions across Oyo State and beyond.

However, in separate responses through their aides, both Makinde and Oba Ladoja strongly denied the claims, insisting there was no rift between them and no plan whatsoever to remove the monarch from the throne. The Oyo State government maintained that no such discussion or intention had ever been considered.

Stakeholders in Ibadanland also condemned the statement, warning against the politicisation of traditional institutions and urging the public to disregard what they described as “unfounded rumours.”
