Convention Venue Row: Wike Dares ADC to Produce Application Evidence

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the African Democratic Congress to substantiate its claim over alleged denial of venue for its national convention, insisting that all allocation processes followed due procedure.

Wike’s response comes amid growing controversy surrounding claims by the opposition party that it was frustrated in its attempt to secure a suitable venue in Abuja for its planned convention. The FCT Administration maintains that no valid application was received or properly processed for the requested facility.

According to the Minister, decisions on public facility allocation are guided by established protocols and transparency, stressing that any group alleging discrimination must present documentary proof of its application. He added that the administration remains open to lawful and properly submitted requests from all political parties.

The ADC, however, has continued to allege political interference and unfair treatment, raising concerns about equal access to public infrastructure for political activities. The dispute has further intensified political tensions in the capital as preparations for party activities continue.

Authorities say the matter will be clarified once all relevant documentation is reviewed.
