ADC Crisis Deepens as David Mark-led Faction Expels Key Members
The internal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has escalated, as a faction led by David Mark announced the expulsion of several prominent members, including Nafiu Bala and Leke Abejide.
The decision was reportedly taken during a controversial convention organized by the Mark-led group, which claims legitimacy over the partyâs leadership structure. In a statement issued after the meeting, the faction accused the expelled members of anti-party activities, disloyalty, and actions deemed detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.
Among those affected are eight other high-ranking officials whose identities were not fully disclosed at the time of reporting. The faction maintained that the expulsions were necessary to restore discipline and reposition the party ahead of future political engagements.
However, loyalists to the expelled members have strongly rejected the move, describing it as illegal, null, and void. They argue that the convention itself lacked proper authorization and did not follow due process as stipulated in the partyâs constitution.
Political observers note that the crisis within the ADC reflects deeper divisions over leadership control and ideological direction. The dispute has raised concerns about the partyâs stability and its capacity to present a united front in Nigeriaâs evolving political landscape.
As tensions continue to rise, there are increasing calls from stakeholders and party elders for reconciliation and adherence to democratic principles to prevent further fragmentation of the party.
