UTME 2026: Police in Oyo, Osun, Lagos, Ogun assure security as Kogi youths raise concerns
The Police Commands in Oyo, Osun, Lagos, and Ogun States have assured candidates and the public of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), as concerns emerge from youths in parts of Kogi State over insecurity and examination logistics.
In separate statements and deployments, the police authorities said officers have been stationed at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the South-West to ensure a hitch-free examination process. The Ogun State Command confirmed deployment across dozens of centres, while Oyo, Osun, and Lagos commands also activated operational teams for surveillance, stop-and-search duties, and rapid response coverage.
The reassurance comes amid rising anxiety expressed by Kogi East youths, who urged state authorities to address insecurity, poor internet connectivity, and shortage of CBT centres in their region. They warned that these challenges could hinder candidates from participating fully in the examination process.
Police authorities, however, emphasized that proactive security measures have been put in place nationwide, including patrols, perimeter checks, and inter-agency collaboration to prevent disruptions during the UTME period.
Officials also urged candidates to adhere strictly to examination guidelines, arrive early at centres, and report any suspicious activity to security personnel on duty.
