Edo State Government Supports Family of Fallen Hero

The Edo State Government has approved full educational scholarships for the children of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who was recently killed in a coordinated Boko Haram attack in Benisheikh, Borno State.

The late General served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI, a critical military operation combating insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East region.

Beneficiaries of the Scholarship

The scholarship package will fully fund the education of his three children from their current academic levels through to university.

The beneficiaries include:

  • Farida Hussain-Braimah, 18, a 100-level Software Engineering student at Nile University, Abuja
  • Amir Hussain-Braimah, 16, currently in SS3 at Olumawu Senior School, Abuja
  • Yasmeen Hussain-Braimah, 12, a JSS2 pupil at Olumawu Junior Secondary School, Abuja

Governor Okpebholo: “A Moral Obligation”

Governor Monday Okpebholo described the gesture as both a moral responsibility and a demonstration of responsible governance.

According to the governor, the late Brigadier General Braimah made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Nigeria, and the state has a duty to support his family.

Honoring Sacrifice Amid Security Challenges

Brigadier General Braimah hailed from Warake in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State. His death highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by Nigerian armed forces in the fight against insurgency.

The scholarship initiative underscores the importance of recognizing and supporting families of fallen military personnel, particularly those who lost their lives defending the nation.

National Reflection

Security analysts note that such gestures can boost morale within the armed forces while reinforcing public trust in government support systems for military families.

As Nigeria continues its counter-insurgency operations, initiatives like this may serve as a model for other states and institutions in honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes.
