Abiodun Approves Weekly Day Off, ₦10,000 Transport Allowance for Ogun Workers.

Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved a new welfare package for workers in Ogun State, introducing a weekly day off and a ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance. The move is aimed at easing the economic burden on civil servants and improving productivity across the state workforce.
According to a statement from the state government, the weekly day off policy is designed to promote work-life balance, allowing employees more time for rest, family, and personal development. Officials noted that the initiative aligns with global best practices in workforce management, where adequate rest is linked to higher efficiency and morale.
In addition to the day off, the ₦10,000 transport allowance is expected to cushion the impact of rising transportation costs, a major concern for workers amid current economic realities in Nigeria. The allowance will be disbursed monthly to eligible civil servants across ministries, departments, and agencies.
Speaking on the development, Governor Abiodun emphasized his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, describing them as the backbone of governance and service delivery. He stated that the government will continue to implement policies that enhance their well-being and motivate them to deliver quality service to residents.
Labour leaders in the state have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and thoughtful. They noted that the combined benefits of reduced work pressure and financial support would significantly improve workers’ living standards.
The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a productive and satisfied workforce, adding that further welfare-driven policies may be introduced as economic conditions evolve.
