Two Abducted UTME Passengers Escape Kidnappers in Benue State
Two passengers believed to be UTME candidates who were abducted along a highway in Benue State have reportedly escaped from their captors after several hours in captivity.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were travelling with other students and commuters when armed men suspected to be kidnappers intercepted their vehicle. The attackers allegedly forced passengers into nearby bushes, leaving families and school authorities in distress.
Security sources revealed that the victims managed to escape during a moment of reduced vigilance by the kidnappers. They reportedly trekked through difficult terrain before reaching a nearby community where they were assisted and later reunited with safety officials.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, while security agencies intensify patrols across major routes in the state to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of exam candidates and other road users.
Benue State police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements as efforts continue to track down the suspects involved in the abduction.
