Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet: Taiwo Oyedele Replaces Wale Edun as Finance Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, replacing Wale Edun.

The decision, announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, forms part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve economic delivery under the administration’s reform agenda.

Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, was elevated to the top position and is expected to immediately assume responsibility for managing Nigeria’s fiscal policies and economic coordination.

Edun, who had held the position since August 2023, has been directed to hand over all official duties to Oyedele within a specified timeframe, marking the end of his tenure as the country’s chief economic manager.

The reshuffle also affected the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, where Ahmed Musa Dangiwa exited the cabinet, with Muttaqha Rabe Darma named as his replacement nominee, pending confirmation.

Officials say the changes are aimed at enhancing coordination within the Federal Executive Council and driving more effective implementation of economic policies, particularly amid ongoing reforms and fiscal challenges.

President Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to continuous cabinet reinvigoration.
