2027 Elections: APC Adjusts Schedule, Moves Presidential Primary to May 23
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revised its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, shifting its presidential primary from the earlier planned date of May 15 to Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The adjustment was announced in Abuja following a meeting of the partyâs National Working Committee (NWC). According to the party, the changes were made to align its internal electoral process with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and updated guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
New APC primary schedule
Under the revised timetable, several key party activities have also been reshuffled:
- Sale of expression of interest and nomination forms: April 25 â May 2
- Submission deadline for forms: May 4
- Screening of aspirants: May 6 â May 9
- Presidential screening: May 9
- House of Representatives primary: May 15
- Senate primary: May 18
- State House of Assembly primary: May 20
- Governorship primary: May 21
- Presidential primary: May 23
Party officials explained that the revised timetable is designed to ensure smoother coordination of the primaries across all levels of elective positions.

The APC also confirmed that nomination forms remain open to all eligible party members, stressing that both direct and consensus methods would be adopted where necessary, in line with electoral guidelines.
The party further stated that the updated schedule reflects its commitment to internal democracy and readiness for the 2027 general elections.
