FG Raises Allowances, Boosts Welfare for Civil Servants
The Federal Government has announced a significant increase in allowances and welfare packages for civil servants, in a move aimed at improving productivity and cushioning the effects of rising living costs across the country.
According to official sources, the new measures include enhanced housing, transport, and medical allowances, alongside improved access to training and capacity-building programs. The government stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with labour unions and stakeholders, who have consistently called for better working conditions and remuneration.
A senior government official noted that the adjustment is part of broader public sector reforms designed to strengthen service delivery and motivate workers. âCivil servants remain the backbone of governance, and their welfare is a priority. This initiative is intended to boost morale and efficiency,â the official said.
Labour leaders have cautiously welcomed the development, describing it as a step in the right direction, while urging the government to ensure prompt implementation and sustainability of the policy.
Economic analysts, however, have raised concerns about the fiscal implications of the increase, especially in light of current budgetary pressures. They emphasized the need for transparency and prudent financial management to avoid long-term economic strain.
The government has assured that the welfare boost will be implemented in phases, with monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
