JAMB To Decide 2026 UTME Cut-Off Marks May 11
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, where stakeholders in Nigeriaâs education sector will determine the official UTME cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Jabi, Abuja, and will bring together vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to decide admission benchmarks and policies for tertiary institutions nationwide.
The annual policy meeting is regarded as one of the most important events in Nigeriaâs admission process, as it determines the minimum UTME scores candidates must obtain to qualify for admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other higher institutions. Individual institutions may later set higher departmental requirements depending on competition and available spaces.
JAMB is also expected to unveil new admission guidelines for the 2026 exercise, while the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is anticipated to provide policy directions aimed at strengthening transparency and standards in tertiary admissions.
Education stakeholders and millions of candidates across the country are awaiting the outcome of the meeting, which will shape admission opportunities for the new academic session. Analysts say the decision could influence competition levels among institutions following the large number of candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME nationwide.
