Buba Galadima: NDC Has Zoned Presidential Ticket To South

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has confirmed that the party has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria ahead of the next general election.

Galadima made the disclosure during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, stating that the decision had already been settled within the party leadership. According to him, any interested aspirant from the South is now free to join the race and begin consultations within the party structure.

The development comes amid major political realignments in the opposition camp, following reports that key political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently aligned with the NDC after internal disputes within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Galadima also disclosed that the party would submit its membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within days, a move expected to clear the way for primary elections and other internal processes ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political observers say the zoning decision may reshape opposition politics and intensify competition among southern politicians seeking the NDC presidential ticket as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum across the country.
