Trump Rejects Iran’s Latest Response to U.S. Ceasefire Proposal

Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest response to a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal, describing Tehran’s position as “totally unacceptable” amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The remarks came after Iranian officials submitted a counter-response through regional mediators, including Pakistan, as diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict continued.

According to reports, Iran’s proposal demanded an end to hostilities across the region, the lifting of U.S. sanctions, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, removal of naval restrictions, and guarantees against future military action. Tehran also insisted that any negotiations should focus first on ending the war before discussing its nuclear programme.

However, Trump dismissed the response, accusing Iran of delaying negotiations and refusing to make meaningful concessions on nuclear activities and missile development. U.S. officials reportedly remain firm on demands that Iran reduce uranium enrichment and accept long-term restrictions on its nuclear facilities.

The rejection has increased fears of renewed military escalation in the region. Oil prices reportedly climbed following concerns that instability around the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt global energy supplies. International observers also worry that the fragile diplomatic process could collapse if both sides fail to compromise.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also maintained pressure on Iran, insisting that Tehran’s nuclear ambitions must be permanently addressed. Meanwhile, diplomatic channels remain open, with mediators continuing efforts to prevent a wider regional conflict.
