Tinubu, Kagame Agree to Deepen Bilateral Relations
President Bola Tinubu and President Paul Kagame have agreed to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Rwanda, focusing on trade, technology, security, and regional integration across Africa.
The agreement followed a high-level bilateral engagement aimed at boosting South-South cooperation and improving partnerships between West and East Africaâs largest economies. Both leaders emphasized the need to expand private sector involvement, ease business regulations, and promote digital innovation.
Tinubu highlighted Nigeriaâs commitment to African economic unity under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), noting that stronger ties with Rwanda would enhance investment flows, especially in fintech, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
President Kagame, on his part, praised Nigeriaâs leadership role in Africa and expressed Rwandaâs readiness to deepen collaboration in ICT, aviation connectivity, and security intelligence sharing, particularly in counter-terrorism efforts.
Both leaders also discussed strengthening regional peacekeeping coordination and improving mobility for business and diplomatic engagements between citizens of both countries.
Analysts say the renewed partnership signals a strategic shift toward more pragmatic intra-African alliances driven by economic recovery, digital transformation, and security cooperation.
