FG: Extension of 2025 Budget Implementation Timeline Delayed Quarterly Reports

The Federal Government has disclosed that the extension of the 2025 budget implementation timeline affected the timely submission of quarterly budget performance reports by several ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs). Officials explained that adjustments made to ongoing capital and recurrent expenditure plans created delays in compiling and reconciling financial records.

According to government sources, some MDAs requested additional time to align their expenditure reports with revised budgetary provisions and project implementation schedules. The delay has slowed the review of fiscal performance indicators and assessment of revenue targets for the year.

Financial analysts say the situation could affect transparency and oversight if reporting timelines are not quickly restored. However, government officials maintained that the extension was necessary to ensure the completion of critical infrastructure and social intervention projects already captured in the national budget.
