Family of Slain Ogbomoso Teacher Begs Public to Stop Sharing Murder Video

The family of Michael Oyedokun, the Ogbomoso schoolteacher brutally killed by bandits after being abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to Nigerians and media platforms to stop circulating graphic footage of his murder.

Oyedokun was among teachers and pupils kidnapped during coordinated attacks on several schools in the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities. A disturbing video allegedly released by the abductors later surfaced online, showing the teacher in captivity moments before he was killed.

In an emotional statement, relatives described the continued circulation of the footage as “deeply traumatising,” especially for the deceased’s children who are currently writing examinations. The family pleaded with social media users to either stop reposting the clips entirely or blur sensitive content before sharing.

They thanked Nigerians for the outpouring of sympathy and prayers but stressed that repeated exposure to the horrifying images was worsening the family’s grief and emotional pain.

The incident has sparked renewed outrage over insecurity in Oyo State, with many Nigerians calling on security agencies and government authorities to intensify rescue operations for other abducted victims and strengthen protection around schools in vulnerable communities.
